James Henry McQuaige, Jr

James Henry McQuaige, Jr, 75 of Delview Rd., passed away Wednesday January 11, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare-Cleveland.

Jim was born on Nov. 28, 1941 in Sumter SC a son of the late James Henry McQuaige, SR and Mollie Pearl Cooke Powers. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, graduate of Cheraw High School and attended University of South Carolina. He loved his family and enjoyed his life's work. He was formerly employed at Sacony Mfg, Cheraw, SC, Sweet Tree Mills, Cherryville, owner of Clar-Mar Inc. and the Hidden Dog Fence Co. He found great pleasure in gardening, camping, the beach and auto racing. He had driven at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and Hickory Speedway and was friends with many of the Nascar greats. He could be seen driving around town in his red 55 Chevy along with his wife of 55 years and high school sweetheart Linda.

He is survived by his wife Linda Muri McQuaige, daughters Shawn McQuaige of Cherryville and Kelly Webster (Ted) of Kings Mountain, grandchildren Shafer Lindy Rupard, Hayden Kelly Rupard, Shepard Luke Webster, and Gracie Lynn Webster, and three sisters Pat Ridel (Jim) of Cornelius, Janet Cassidy (Bobby) of Simpsonville, SC, and Mary Lomas (Harold) of Cheraw, SC.

Funeral services will be held Friday Jan 13, 2017 at 3 PM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Collins and Father James Fraser Lyon officiating. Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at the church from 2-2:45 and at other times at the home.
