James Ira "Bunt" Williams
Mr. James Ira "Bunt" Williams, 92, of 2201 Knotline Lane
passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Catawba Regional Medical Center in
Newton.  

Born in Lincoln County on September 12,1922, he was a son of the late Lester
Cletus Williams and Nannie Frances Houser Williams.  

Mr. Williams was a member of Plains View Baptist Church where he was a
former deacon and mission team member and was also a member of the VFW Post
97, Lincolnton and the Last Man Standing Club of WWII Veterans.  He served
in the 30th Division, 119th Infantry Regiment in the Army.  Mr. Williams was
in the Battle of the Bulge, a prisoner of war and recieved two bronze stars
in the European Theater.  A roving hauler for Doran Textiles, he retired
after forty-three years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae
Green Williams; brothers, Howard Williams and Doc Williams and wife Louise;
sister, Louise Williams Greene & husband Martin; brother-in-law, William
Carpenter; and grandson, Kenny Williams.

Mr. Williams is survived by sons and daugters-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara
Williams and Clyde and Lorene Williams all of Cherryville; daughters and
sons-in-law, Irene and David Martin of Hickory and Mary Ann and Tim Goodman
of Iron Station; sisters, Ethel Carpenter of Cherryville and Dorothy Upton
and husband Harold of Cherryville; sister-in-law, Della Williams;
brothers-in-law Yates Greene and Ray Greene; eleven grandchildren;
twenty-seven great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 7:30 PM Tuesday at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home in Fallston.

The funeral will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday at Plains View Baptist Church with
Dr. Ernest W. Speagle officiating.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites.
