James Jackson Jolley

CLOVER- James Jackson Jolley, 86, of 1899 Hwy 55 West, was born August 23, 1929 and transcended Thursday October 1, 2015 peacefully at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late James W. and Bertha Addington Jolley. He was retired from Pharr Yarns in McAdenville, NC where he worked as Manager of McAdenville Nurseries. He was an excellent Arborist, Horticulturalist, and Landscape Artist. For several years after his retirement, he continued to help beautify McAdenville by helping to turn it into Christmas Town, USA. He was also a Navel Veteran, serving on the Aircraft Carrier, F.D.R. during the late 1940's. He enriched the lives of all those fortunate to have crossed his path. His love for his family, his work, fishing, hunting, football, NASCAR, and music gave many an opportunity to know him. His family has been truly blessed by his love, caring, and mentoring. He will be lovingly missed. We love you daddy!

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in transition by one brother, Clyde Jolley.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Margie of the home; one son, Donald and wife Trish; two daughters, Rebecca and Jackie; four granddaughters, Dawn Long and husband Steve, Mary Brown and husband Robert, Amanda Laster and husband James, Dionna Cooke and husband Mark; one grandson, Adam Jolley; four great granddaughters; five great-grandsons; and one great great granddaughter.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday in the Chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

CLERGY: Rev. Thomas Whray will officiate.

BURIAL: Internment will immediately follow the service at Cleveland Memorial Park

FUNERAL HOME: Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby is serving the Jolley family.
