Mr. James "Jim" Hoke Wright, 86, of Shelby, died Thursday, January 30,
2014 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.
Born March 9, 1927 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Andrew
Broadus Wright and Bessie Etta Ward Wright. Mr. Wright was a self-employed
paint contractor and was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church for more than
50 years. He was a member of Fallston Masonic Lodge #356 and the Piedmont
Shrine Club.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine
Stockton Wright and a brother-in-law, Joe Ed Walker.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Ron Wright and wife, Sandi of Shelby; two
brothers, Bob Wright and wife, Mary of Omaha, NE and Tom Wright and wife,
Marie of Grover; two sisters, Polly Buff and husband, Cecil of Lawndale and
Donnis Walker of New House.
Visitation will follow immediately after the service.
Memorial Service: 3:00 PM, Sunday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel
Officiating: Rev. Clinton Padgett and Mr. Mike McGee
