James Lee Clary

James Lee Clary, age 65, died Friday May 20, 2016 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County on January 22, 1951, he was the son of the late Everette and Janie Price Clary. James was an active member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church where he served on many church committees and as custodian, treasurer of Methodist Men and sang in the choir. He was past Chairman of Board of Directors for Boiling Springs Fire Department, former member of Boilings Spings Life Saving and Rescue, and former member of Boiling Springs City Fire Department. He was a formerly employed at Fiber Industries, Cleveland County Sheriff's Department and retired in 2006 as Police Chief of Boiling Springs Police Department. James enjoyed camping, working in the flower garden and reading. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by a nephew, Charles Everette Greene and father and mother-in-law, Ward and Mary Anne Sweezy.

James is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jill Sweezy Clary; a sister, Donnis Clary Greene and husband Charles of Shelby; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Danny and Terry Sweezy McSwain of Shelby; nephews, Patrick Greene and girlfriend Taylor Walker, and Richard McSwain; niece, Ashley McSwain Cook and husband Derrick; his beloved Yorkie, "Dixie"; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 23 , 2016 at 4:00 pm at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy T. Byers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 22, 2016 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

The family would like to thank Dr.Bikash Gupta, Dr. Rob Laney, Dr. Forrest Thompson, Dr. Robert Gossett, 4th floor nursing staff at Carolinas Healthcare System-Cleveland, Hospice Wendover and Cleveland Pines, for all the loving care that they gave to James during his illness.
