James Leslie "Jay Bird" Gilmer

James Leslie "Jay Bird" Gilmer, 82, of Clover, SC, passed away July 28, 2022 at home.

Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022 at the New Camp Creek Baptist Church, 863 New Camp Creek Church Rd., Kings Mountain, NC with the Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022 with Masonic Rites at 4:30 p.m. at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Clover, SC.

Mr. Gilmer was born March 16, 1940 in Chester, SC to the late Frank Benjamin Gilmer and Eva Maybell Estes. He was the owner of Jay's Mobile Home Movers and recognized as a loyal NASCAR Fan at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gilmer and sisters, Alma Dabbs, Francis Gheens, Margie Head, and Doris Black.

Survivors are his wife Myrtle McNeely Gilmer; daughters Lisa Ramon (Joel) of Clover, SC and Frankie Spain of Conway, SC; brother Ronald "Shotgun" Gilmer (Joann) of North Augusta, SC; grandchildren Spencer McNeely (Hannah) and Tayler Cooper both of Clover, SC; and great grandchildren Sawyer, Hudson, and Aria-Kate.
