James Louis Ligon Sr.

Smyrna -- James Louis Ligon Sr., 90, of 5145 Canaan Church Road, passed away Tuesday, November 10th, 2015, at his residence.

Born in Rock Hill, he was the husband of Betty Ligon and the son of the late George Nicholas Ligon and Hannah Corine Parrish Ligon. Mr. Ligon retired from Reid Gas and was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church of Rock Hill for over sixty years. Mr. Ligon served in World War II in Tokyo, Japan with the United States Army, and he was a lifetime member of both the VFW Post 2889 and the American Legion Post #34.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Ligon is survived by a son, Jimmie Ligon Jr and wife, Cheryl, of Rock Hill; two daughters, Jane Ligon of Rock Hill and Tammy Ligon of Rock Hill; a step-son, Kenneth Bolin and wife, Tracy, of Fort Mill; two step-daughters, Debbie Davies and husband, Gary, of York and Linda O'Neil and husband, David, of Tega Cay; two brothers, Clem Ligon and wife, Bobbie, and Jack Ligon and wife, Mary, all of Rock Hill; ten grandchildren, Mike Ligon and wife, Kara, Hannah Threatt and husband, Dustin, Shaina Davies, David Davies, Derek Davies, Josh Moseley, Adam Bolin, Lindsay Bolin, Taylor Hoverman, and Riley Hoverman; and five great-grandchildren, Jenna, Dalton, and Ellison Ligon and Braedon and Eddie Davies.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ligon was preceded in death by a step-son, Dennis Bolin; one step-grandson, Brett Hoverman; three brothers, William, Heyward, and Claude Ligon; and three sisters, Virginia Nichols, Anna Falls, and Frances Gaston.

A memorial service with military honors presented by the American Legion Honor Guard from American Legion Post #34 will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm at St. John's United Methodist Church, 321 South Oakland Avenue, Rock HIll, SC, with Rev. Philip Chandler officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service inside of the church's Huddleston Hall.

Memorials may be made to the Wayne T Patrick Hospice House, 2275 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
