Born March 10, 1932 in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of the late Thomas Weaver and Maggie Waters Weaver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother; one sister; and one grandson.

Mr. Weaver was a United States Army veteran and a member of Wilson Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling and fishing and was known as “Rattlesnake” to the members of the Alpha CB Club.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Lorene Hendricks Weaver; three sons, Harland Gregory Shippam of Lake Lure, Harley James Shippam of Bostic and Walter Lee Steed of Bostic; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Wilson Baptist Church, with Reverend Troy Dorsey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Wilson Baptist Church. Inurnment will be private at a later date at Wilson Baptist Church Cemetery.
