James Richard "Dick" Mauney, Sr.

Cherryville - Mr. James Richard "Dick" Mauney, Sr., 78, of Tryon Courthouse
Road, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Robin Johnson Hospice
House in Dallas.

Dick was born in Gaston County, NC on March 24, 1937 a son of the late James
Hubert Mauney and Margaret Carpenter Mauney Bess. He was retired from
Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation
as a long line driver. Dick was a life long member of First United
Methodist Church of Cherryville and served the church in many capacities, he
was also a member of Cherryville Masonic Lodge #505 A.F. & A.M., Scottish
Rite Bodies and Oasis Shrine Temple of Charlotte and the Cherryville
American Legion Post 100. Dick served in the United States Marine Corp
during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane
Rogers Mauney and a brother, Mick Mauney.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Linda Moore Mauney, of the home; two
sons, Roger Mauney and wife Fran of Greenville, SC; James Richard Mauney,
Jr. of Marco Island, FL; a daughter, Tracey McFadden and husband Wayne of
Gastonia; a brother, Jim Mauney of Houston, TX and four grandchildren, Jake
and Nick Mauney and Jonathan and Kayleigh McFadden.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 1:30PM to 2:45PM at
First United Methodist Church.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at
3:00PM at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph Collins
officiating.

Military Honors will be conducted by Cherryville American Legion Post 100
Honor Guard and Masonic Rites by Cherryville Masonic Lodge #505 A.F. & A.M.

Burial will be Private.

Cherryville, NC 28021 or to Robin Johnson Hospice House, 5005 Shepherds Way,
Dallas, NC 28034.
