James T. Hayes
 James T. Hayes, 73, of 3625 West Stagecoach Trail in Shelby, surrounded by his loving family, went to be with his heavenly father March 30, 2012 at home. He is now at peace after many years of battling illness.

 

Born in Cleveland County on July 22, 1938, he was a son of the late Fitchue Hayes and Mary Elsie Dotson Hayes. He was retired from PPG as a quality control technician after forty years of service. He also served in the US Navy and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lawndale.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Hayes and Harry Hayes and one sister, Hazel Blanton.

 

Survivors include his wife of fifty one years, Connie Philbeck Hayes, one son & daughter-in-law, Jeffery Thomas & Christa Hayes of Vale, one daughter & son-in-law, Sandy Hayes McClain & Scott of Cary, one sister, Bea Bridges of Shelby, five grandchildren, Nicole Hayes Buice and husband, Jeremy, Thomas Hayes, Leigh Ann Hayes, Katie McClain, and Andrew McClain, and three great grandchildren, Jackson & Aspen Buice and Camdyn Howell.

 

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 until 6:30PM at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.

 

The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00AM at First United Methodist Church in Lawndale with the Rev. David Hiatt officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.

 

Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
