James Victor Richards, 69, 146 Canton Drive, Blacksburg, SC, died December 11, 2013, at home. He and his wife, Ruth Childers Richards, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary December 4, 2013. He is the son of the late James "Slim" and Colene Hopper Richards. He was retired from WeaveTec and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his beloved wife, Ruth, he is survived by three daughters - Ruth Elizabeth Upton, Carolyn Sue Richards and Linda Ann Jackson all of Blacksburg, SC; eight grandchildren - Benjamin Bagwell, Bradley Richards Andrews, Laura Richards, James Richards, Tyra Upton and fiance - Jeremy Long, Yessica Moreno, Francisco Gonzalez and Carolyn Gonzalez; three great-grandchildren - Mason Bagwell, Mariah Long and Kori Long; four sisters - Nellie Herrick and husband, Clifford Woody, of Campobello, SC, Lillian Cook and husband, Charles, of Grover, NC, Jane Hanvy and husband, Frank, of TN, and Jackie Dixon and husband, Kenny, of Grover, NC, and a brother-in-law, Jim Raines. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son - James Roland Richards, and a sister - Carolyn Raines.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7:00 PM at White Columns Funeral Service. A Celebration Of Life Service will be held Friday, December 13, 2013, 2:00 PM, at White Columns Funeral Service with Revs. Roger "Buddy" Childers and John Childers officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. At other times, they will be at the home.
Active Pallbearers serving are Daniel Arrowood, Kenneth Dixon, Forrest Dover, Jerry Moore, Sebastian Moore and Billy Harris. Honorary Pallbearers serving are Francisco Gonzalez, Rev. Roger "Buddy" Childers and Rev. John Childers.
