James Willard "Smiley" McMurry, 81,of Shelby passed away Saturday, July 12,
2015 at CMC- Main in Charlotte.

He was born in Cleveland County on January 28, 1934 to the late Grady Herman
McMurry and Selva Johnson McMurry. He was retired from Mills & Suttles
Construction and was a member of Ledford Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Timothy
McMurry; brothers, Bill McMurry and Carol McMurry.

He is survived by his former wife, Thelma Truelove McMurry; daughter, Karen
Taylor of Shelby; brothers, David McMurry of Shelby & Larry McMurry of
Shelby; Sister, Gail Pelts of South Carolina; grandchildren, Joshua Taylor,
Wayne Taylor, Amanda Queen & Nicholas Queen; great grandchildren, Bryson
Taylor & Bryliegh Taylor.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at
Ledford Grove Baptist Church.

The memorial service will be on Thursday at 3:00 PM at Ledford Grove Baptist
Church with Rev. Jackie Price officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
