Janis LaRene Hamrick

SHELBY - Janis LaRene Hamrick, 77, of Shelby, left the confines of this world and entered the realm of glory on Saturday, July 30, 2016, after a long and hard battle with cancer.
Born March 16, 1939 in Iowa City, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Solomon and Cuma Hazel Brown Combs and was preceded in death by a brother, Gaylan Lewis Combs and his wife Penny of Mt. Ayr, Iowa.
Janis was an active member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church. She retired from Cleveland Regional Medical Center after 45 years of service. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who always put family first.
Janis is survived by her husband of 60 years, Danny Gene Hamrick of Shelby; three children and six grandchildren; Wanda Rogers and husband George, and their children, Natalie Conner and husband Jonathan, Nathan Rogers and wife Haley; Scott Hamrick and wife Danita, and their children, Dayne Hamrick and Laura Beth Hamrick; Cristal Barlow and husband Bob, and their children, Kevin Barlow, Patrick Barlow and wife Brooklyn. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Kinsley Conner, Brayden Conner, Lawson Rogers; and her loyal companion, Gertie.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Lafayette Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur Holland officiating. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lafayette Street United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Cleveland County
