Jean Adele Perkins Camp

Mrs. Jean Adele Perkins Camp, 82, og 1711Carson Rd. Shelby, NC left her earthly life on October 7, 2014 at her residence.  She was born on February 18, 1932 in Macon, Georgia to the late Eli and Patti Jones Perkins.

Mrs. Camp was a faithful member of Golden Ridge Baptist Church in Shelby where she served as Financial Treasurer.  She was also retired from the textile industry.  She loved God, her family and would do anything to help anybody.  She also loved gospel singing and continued to attend gospel singing programs after the death of her husband who was a gospel singer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Eula James “Shine” Camp; one son, Herbert Camp; four brothers, L.B. Perkins, James Perkins, Joe Perkins and Johnny Perkins and three sisters, Edna Flack, Agness Kimble and Shirley Tuft.

She leaves to cherish fond memories, three sons, J.Q. Camp of Kingstown, NC, Tommie Camp (Barbara) of Kings Mountain, NC and Rafus Camp also of Kingstown; a step-son, Thomas Degree of Waynesville, NC; three daughters, Shirley Marable, Vanessa Hopper and Margaret Parrott all of Shelby; a granddaughter, Tammy Mitchell (Edward) of Shelby; a step-daughter, Mary Hillman (Ronald) of Shelby; three sisters-in-law, Emma Perkins of Shelby, Leslie Perkins of Gastonia, NC and Ella Watson of Kingstown; two brothers-in-law, Pete Tuft (Martha) and Donald Camp (Nanette) both of Shelby; 28 grandchildren many of whom she raised and many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Golden Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Kenneth R. Martin officiating.  Burial will take place at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:00 PM on Saturday and at other times at the home.
