Jean Peters Blanton

Jean Peters Blanton, “Nanny,” 83, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Wendover Hospice House.  Born in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Laura Peters. She was also preceded in death by her aunt, Georgia Watkins; brother, Jack Peters; sister, Blonnie Campbell; and son, William “Bill” Lawton Blanton.  Jean was a retired RN who worked in various locations in the medical field until her retirement from Hunter Clinic.  Jean was a devoted wife, caring mother, and loving grandmother.  She was an active member of Buffalo Baptist Church as well as a faithful volunteer at the Senior Center where she enjoyed interacting and being involved in various activities.  She was an avid sports fan, enjoying all sports.  She loved feeding and admiring birds from her home.  Jean’s greatest love was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Blanton; daughter, Georgann Morgan and husband Rick; daughter-in-law, Miriam Blanton; grandchildren: Emily Hunnicutt Clary and husband Wesley; Anna Blanton and fiancé’ Brandon Ducker; and Caleb Blanton; great-grandchildren:  Abby, Macey, and Lily Clary, and Jase Ducker.  She is also survived by her aunt, Elizabeth “Libby” Walker and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Buffalo Baptist Church. The Rev. Max Turner, Jr. will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at the church prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.  At other times the family will be at the home.
