Jerry Dean Parker

Blacksburg -- Jerry Dean Parker, 76, of 116 McKee Drive, passed away Tuesday, January 30th, 2018, at his residence.

Born in Bessemer City, NC, he was the husband of Suson D. Peeler Parker and the son of the late Jake Quince Parker and Ruth Cantrell Parker. Mr. Parker retired from Duke Energy and was a member of St. John United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was on the Board of Directors of Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Buffalo Masonic Lodge #202.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Parker is survived by two daughters, Lori P. Davis and husband, David, of Columbia and Tracey P. Hively and husband, Kevin, of Gaffney and two granddaughters, Parker Ann Hively and Quincey Grace Hively.

Mr. Parker was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Hampton Parker.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 1st, 2018, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary, 400 West Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, South Carolina 29702. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 2nd, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Clingman Memorial Gardens, 1219 East Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702 with Rev. Don Boshell officiating. Cecil Bell, Hal Howington, Jerry Agner, John Campbell, Joe Hicks Whitener Jr., and Mike Spencer will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Hope and Harold Putnam.

Memorials may be made to St. John United Methodist Church, Betty Parker Children's Fund,105 South Rutherford Street, Blacksburg, SC 29702.

The family will be at the residence.
