Jerry Donald Padgett, age 85, of Shelby, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Jerry was born Saturday, April 16, 1938 in Rutherford County to the late Frank Palmer Padgett and Virginia Lowery Padgett. He was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1956. Jerry worked as an office manager for Liberty Life Insurance for over thirty years before his retirement. He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. Jerry enjoyed playing and watching sports and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Padgett; brother, Charles Padgett; an infant brother, James Willard Padgett and brother-in-law, Maurice Huskey.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Brenda Casey Padgett; daughter, Karen Bell (Gary) of Boiling Springs, NC; grandson, Dr. Jacob Bell of Lubbock, Texas; sisters, Ellen Huskey of Forest City, Trudi Moore (Bill) of Ellenboro and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, July 28th at the Oak Grove United Methodist Cemetery with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating.
