Jerry Dwayne Turner

Jerry Dwayne Turner, age 55, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his home in Shelby. Born in Cleveland County on May 10, 1964 he was the son of JD Turner Jr. and Mary Jo Davis Turner both of Shelby. He was employed by the City of Shelby Waste Water Treatment Plant and later for Cleveland County Schools Transportation garage before retiring. Jerry was a graduate of Shelby High class of 1982 and was a member of Masonic Lodge 202 A.F&A.M. He enjoyed racing, building race cars and was a great auto mechanic who could get anything running, he loved to work on cars. Jerry also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gun marksmanship. He loved the ocean especially during family trips. His favorite place to be was Oak Island, pier fishing.

Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents; JD Turner Sr. and wife Myrtle, Ben Davis and wife Viola, and Mildred Davis.


In addition to his parents Jerry is survived by, two sons; Jerry Dwayne Turner II and wife Amanda of Hubert, NC, "Cody" Turner, and Cameron Turner both of Shelby, two sisters; Amelia Loomis and husband Bryan Loomis of Lincolnton and Lynn Turner-Williamson and fiancé John Maloney of New Hampshire, two grandsons; Tucker and Samson Turner, one niece, Hannah Hamrick and close friends, Danny Hamrick and Dale Ledford, he also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
