Jerry Lee Beam
Jerry Lee Beam, 67, of Kings Mountain was called home on Good Friday, April 18, 2014.  He was born on November 27, 1946 in Gaston County to the late Lawrence Lee and Lorene Shull Beam. Jerry was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the 69th Signal Battalion, 1st Signal Brigade. His tour included involvement in the Tet Offensive in 1968.  He worked as a Warehouse Supervisor at Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation in Cherryville for 23 years. He was also employed with Schneider Trucking Company as a cross-country driver during his working career. Mr. Beam was an avid fisherman, baseball and Nascar enthusiast, and enjoyed playing guitar. After many years of battling various health-related issues, Jerry leaves with us a legacy of love for His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, love and devotion to his family, and values of hard work and endurance that will live on and through the many generations to come and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
 
 
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Geraldene Beam; son, Rodney and Karen Beam; daughter, Rhonda and Craig Beam; sisters, Janie and Wayne Eaker, and Polly and Robert Barrett; grandsons, Allan Michael, Alexander, Harrison, Jesse, and Ethan Beam; niece, Barbara and Gary Reubens; great niece and great-great nephew Helena Barrett and Seth Krotenberg; and several aunts, uncles and cousins that were special and dear to him.
 
 
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Key officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Carpenter’s Funeral & Cremation Services.
