Jerry McCoy Carpenter, 65, of 1606 W. Stagecoach Trail, Lawndale, passed
away Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Hospice at Wendover in Shelby.
Jerry was born in Cleveland County on March 29, 1946, to the late Clyde Earl
Carpenter and Mazelle Crowder Carpenter. He was employed with Cleveland
County Schools as a custodian for Union Elementary School. He was a member
of Elliott Memorial Baptist Church. Jerry was an avid deer hunter, but his
greatest love was his grandchildren never missing one of Dustin's baseball
or Samantha's softball games.
He is survived by his fiancée, Kathy Hyde; daughter, Sheila Greene and
husband Chad of Lawndale; grandson Dustin Greene of Lawndale;
granddaughter, Samantha Greene of Lawndale; stepson Michael Marlow and wife
Amanda of Casar, step-grandchildren Chris Marlow, Taylor Marlow and Steele
McNeilly all of Casar, and special friends Sherry Pruett and Leigh Ann
Earwood.
The family would also like to thank the family of Union Elementary School
for all of their kindness and support throughout Jerry's battle with cancer.
