Jessie Hord Thomas age 91, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She was born on September 16, 1923 to the late B.F. Hord and Ora Lee Roberts Hord. Jessie worked for the Orthopedic Hospital in Gastonia, Seaboard Railroad in Southern Pines, numerous positions in textiles, and retired from the coffee shop at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, traveling, spending time at the beach, and was the most loyal and supporting fan of Post 82 American Legion Baseball. Also preceded in death is her husband Robert Lee Thomas; one son, Philip Lee Thomas; two sisters, Bonnie Hord Hopper Hawkins and Mildred Hord Stroup; two brothers, Ralph Roberts Hord and James William "Bud" Hord; and one grandson, Matthew Thomas.

Jessie is survived by twin sons, Scott Thomas and friend Sherry Young, Terry Thomas and wife Deborah all of Shelby; two daughters, Suzanne Grayson and husband Mike of Shelby, Sandra Thomas of Tuscaloosa, AL.; one sister Carolyn Buchan and husband Frank of Southern Pines; five grandchildren Brooke Barrick and husband Doug of Rutherfordton, Robbie Thomas of Shelby, Jason Thomas of Kings Mtn., Amanda Thomas of Shelby, and Michael Grayson of Lake Wylie; seven great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Caleigh, and Emory Barrick, Tripp, Halie, Elaina, and Myles Grayson.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 12:00 at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Dr. Rit Varriale officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before 11:00AM to 12:00PM in the sanctuary. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
