Jewel Dean York Winters, age 85 died Friday July 12 2013 at Kings Mountain Hospice. Born in Georgia on July 31, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ewing York and Lilly Mae Brownlow Fox and step father,  Jesse Fox. Jewel was a member of the Kings Mountain First Church of the Nazarene. She worked for over 20 years in textiles and retired from Dora Mills. She enjoyed knitting, word search, and being with the grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and step father, she is preceded in death by a son, James Clayton Winters, a daughter, Judy Ball, and a grandson, Wesley Drewery.

Mrs. Winters is survived by her husband of 66 years, J. C. Winters, two daughters, Faye Drewery and husband Roger of Shelby, and Brenda Wheat of Shelby; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Winters of Dalton, Ga; nine grandchildren, Sharon Bishop, Dana Roderick, Clay Winters, Candace Wilson, Carla Wheat, Jayson Bell, Julia Wheat, Shane Ball, and Heather Ball; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 16, 2013 at 11:00am at the Kings Mountain First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Michael Daughrity officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday July 15, 2013 from 6:00 until 7:30pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
