Joan Scruggs Mitchell, 77, of Cliffside Street, Cliffside, died on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at her residence. A native of Rutherford County, she was born on April 15, 2015, a daughter of the late Thurman Scruggs and Leavy Johnson Scruggs. She was retired from Cone Mills Corporation - Cliffside Plant and was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Henry Goode and one brother, David Scruggs. She is survived by her son, Jamie Mitchell of Cliffside; one daughter, Robin McDaniel of Cliffside; one brother, Dean Scruggs of Seneca, SC; 4 grandchildren, Mitchell McDaniel, Stephen McDaniel, Ashley Mitchell and Joshua Mitchell; her great grandchildren, Tesla McDaniel, Halie Henson and Brantley Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at The A.C. McKinney Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joey Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Cliffside Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home.
