Joann Carpenter Cook

Mrs. Joann Carpenter Cook, 79, of Shelby, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Wendover Hospice.

A native of Rutherford County, she was born October 24, 1933, daughter of the late Everette Clarence Carpenter and Williemetto Fite Carpenter. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Ellenboro, NC. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by PPG Industries for 25 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Floyd Harold Cook; a son Daryl Lynn Cook and wife, Rose, of Shelby; a sister, Darcus Revels, and husband, Gerald, of Forest City; a brother, Robert Carpenter, and wife, Geraldine, of Ellenboro; two granddaughters, Angela Cook and Dianna Cook; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and a very special church family.

Visitation: The family will receive friends immediately following the interment in the church fellowship hall, and other times at the home of Daryl and Rose Cook, 1329 Wyanoke Ave. Shelby 28152

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Monday at Victory Baptist Church, Ellenboro. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service,
