Joe Borders
 Mr. Joe Borders, 89, of Shelby, passed away at White Oak Manor on 4-11-2012.  He was the son of

the late Robert Franklin Borders & Laura Lee Hamrick Borders.  He was also preceded in death by

his wife, Barbara Churchhill Borders, three brothers and three sisters.

 

Mr. Borders retired from the Lincoln- Mercury car dealership in Miami, Florida where he was the

 parts manager.  He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a graduate of Number Three

High School.  He served in the U. S. Army where he was awarded two bronze stars for heroic action

on Nov. 23, 2944, in the vicinity of Bertrichamp, France.  He was an avid golfer and worked and

played at Club Med in Miami, Florida.

 

He is survived by his sister, Helen Burgess of Shelby; a special niece & her husband, Phoebe & Dennis

Devine of Cherryville; a special friend, Maxine Proctor and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

A graveside service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on Saturday, April 14th at 10:00 AM

with visitation following the service.  The Revs. Russ Bradley & Broadus Heatherly will officiate.

Burial will be in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

                     or to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150
