John Albert McClain, 82, of 3021 Blacksburg Road, passed away on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at his residence.

Born in Rockingham North Carolina, he was the husband of Linda Turner McClain and the son of the late Emanuel J. McClain and Laura Hambright McClain. John retired from TNS Mills after many years of service, loved gardening, watching westerns, traveling to the mountains and spending time with his family.

Surviving Mr. McClain are his children, John Paul McClain of Blacksburg, Glinda Derrick (Gene) of Blacksburg, and Kelly Allen (Phillip) of Grover, grandchildren, Justice Varnadore of Iowa, Hannah Allen (Trevor) of Shelby, Hope and Elijah Allen of Grover, Turner, Serenity and Paisley Derrick of Cherokee Falls.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McClain was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret McClain, Darlene Messer, Ruth Raines, brothers, Louis McClain, L.B. McClain, and Gerald "Coot" McClain.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 31st from 3pm until 4pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow, at 4:00 pm with Rev. Willie Lanier and Buddy Ligon officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
