Kings Mountain - Mr. John Arthur Carpenter, 85, of Sellars Road, passed away
on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his residence.

John was born in Gaston County, NC on July 29, 1929 a son of the late Barney
Carpenter and Gettie Upton Carpenter. He was a self employed painter and
served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kim Yarbro and Jeff of Kings
Mountain; two grandchildren and spouses, Jessica Childers and Josh and Kyle
Yarbro and April; two great grandchildren, Bentley Yarbro and Maggie
Childers; one brother, Ben Carpenter and a sister Kathleen Burgess both of
Cherryville.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2014 from 1:30 until 2:30PM at
Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday at 3:00PM at Shady Grove Baptist
Church with the Rev. Scott Whitney officiating.

Burial will be at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites
provided by the Cherryville American Legion Honor Guard.
