Rev. John B. Hyder, Jr., 89, of 414 Claxton Dr., Shelby, NC, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010. Services were held at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church, Rutherfordton, NC. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Rev. Hyder was preceded in death by parents, John B. and Rosie McAbee Hyder; 2 daughters, Joyce Hyder Black and Patricia Hyder Gantt; 2 brothers, Thomas Hyder and Boyce Hyder; and 2 sisters, Gertrude George and Alice Cline.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Bailes Hyder; 4 sons, Mack Hyder and wife Darlene, and Earl Bailes and wife Agnes, all of Shelby, Steve Hyder and wife Debera of Bessemer City, and Wayne Hyder and wife Lisa of Kings Mountain; 1 daughter, Virginia Bailes Abernathy and husband Stan of Shelby; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
