John Bell Crook Jr.
Blacksburg -- John Bell Crook Jr., 92, of 248 Ridge Road, passed away Monday, September 18th, 2017, at his residence.
Born in Gastonia, he was the widower of Lela Moore Crook and the son of the late John Crook Sr. and Gertrude Isabell Crook. Mr. Crook retired in mining and maintenance at Lithium and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was in the Battle of the Bulge with General Patton.
Surviving Mr. Crook are two sons, Mike and Brian Crook, both of Blacksburg; two daughters, Sheila Tate of Mooresboro, NC and Janet Chambers of Earl, NC; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Crook was preceded in death by a half-sister, Margaret Black and his brother, James Crook.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 24th, 2017, from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Monday, September 25th, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at their respective homes.
