John “Bud” Martin, age 72, of Cedar Street Extension, Rutherfordton, NC, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at his residence.
Bud was born March 19, 1940 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Robert Martin and Veva Hodge Martin. He owned and operated Martin Clean-up Shop in Rutherfordton for many years and enjoyed going to flea markets. He was known as a hard working man.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters and an infant grandson, Wesley Lee Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Pat Martin; one daughter, Melissa Martin; four sons, Norman Martin, Russell Martin and wife, Tina, Danny Martin and wife, Debra and Jimbo Martin and wife, Christy all of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Pansy Bostic also of Rutherfordton and Dot Dimsdale of Polk County. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Dennis Martin, Michael Martin, Dalton Martin, Lydia Martin, Conner Fisher, Madison Fisher and two great grandchildren, Cain and Cade Martin.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Calvary Baptist Church of Rutherfordton with Reverend Louis Jackson and Reverend Shane Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
