John Cleveland "J.C." Gossett, Sr.

John Cleveland "J.C." Gossett, Sr., 84, of Mooresboro entered into his heavenly home on Monday, February 23, 2015.

C. was the son of the late Frederich and Lula Cash Gossett.In addition to his parents, his brothers; Howard Gossett and Dewey Gossett; his sisters Mary Spakes and Avis Walker; his son, James Michael Gossett; and his great-granddaughter, Jasmin Gossett, preceded him in death.

C. retired as "Loom Fixer" from John H. Montgomery Mill but continued working on looms for local friends for many years as he was the "expert" in fixing an old loom. He was a faithful member of Riverside Baptist Church where in served in various roles throughout the years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Agnes Bryant Gossett of the home, sisters Yvonne Spicer of Chesnee, SC and Elsie Laughter of Mayo, SC; his children; Frieda Conner & husband Dean of Mooresboro, John "Clevie" Gossett, Jr. & wife Ann of Mooresboro, Diane Cogdell of Mooresboro, Libby Burgess & husband Chris of Asheville; Charlie Gossett & wife Melinda of Mooresboro, and Angie Pearson & husband Jerry of Mooresboro. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held beginning at three o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Riverside Baptist Church, 1178 Hogan Road, Forest City, NC with the Rev. Ted Blankenship and Rev. George Whitmire officiating with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence.

The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the staff of Hospice of Rutherford County, especially his outstanding home care providers; Raina Crowder, RN; Susan Harris, NP; & Terry Williams, CNA; these individuals were a blessing to J.C. and Agnes during the time of his illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.

Harrelson Funeral & Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements.
