John Edward Horton
 John Edward Horton, 86, of Polkville, died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Fair Haven Home in Bostic.

Born July 25, 1925 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late John Horton and Florence Lackey Horton.  He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and was a fireman for Polkville Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sons, James Clark, Clyde Clark and Bob Clark.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Vernie Curtis Horton; two sons, Cecil Clark of Forest City and Tommy Clark of Shelby; three daughters, Faye Lovelace of Polkville, Helen Pruitt of Shelby and Gail Alfonzo of California; a special cousin, Carol Champion; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Thursday, Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.

Memorial Service: 3:00 PM, Thursday,  Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, Fallston.

Officiating: Rev. Bill Lovelace

Burial: Private
