John George Schanewolf age 73 died Friday September 2, 2016 at Hospice of Wendover. Born in Easton PA on November 30, 1942 he was the son of the late George Schanewolf and Beulah Martin. John was an avid stamp and coin collector and lifelong Pittsburg Steelers fan. He established Schanewolf Cycle Sports in 1994 and led a BMX biking team for more than 15 years. During that time he sponsored hundreds of kids, and helped foster a love of the sport in them. In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by his step-father Steve Martin and his wife Eunice Gilstrap Schanewolf.

John is survived his three sons Johnathan (Chrystal) Schanewolf of Waxhaw, Mark (Val) Schanewolf of Greensboro and Todd Schanewolf of Burlington. One daughter, Becky Whitt of Concord. His brother, Louis (Kay) Schanewolf of Easton, PA. five grandchildren; Emily Schanewolf, Guthrie Schanewolf, Madalyn Rikard, Trey Rikard and Carson Schanewolf. And one great-grand daughter, Scarlette Mello.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on the day of the service.
