John "Johnny" Charles Haskin, age 82, died Tuesday September 22, 2015 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. Born in York County SC. on June 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Herber Augusta "H. A." and Mary Ruby Neeland Haskin. He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church. John served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a former foreman at Asphalt Paving of Shelby for over 47 years. He loved Dale Earnhardt and watching NASCAR. He enjoyed working in his garden, tractors and lawn mowers. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives, Mildred Haskin, Ruby Haskin and Jean Haskin; a son, Ricky Haskin, a sister, Deborah Gladden, and a brother, Steven Haskin.
John is survived by three daughters, Cathy Haskin Neal and fiancé Joe DiBernado of Vale, Delene Reid Cornett and Daniel of Lenoir, Jerri Hendrix Walker and husband Charles of Lenoir, two sons, Bud Haskin and wife Nancy of Shelby and Clyde Haskin and wife Tina of Earl; three sisters, Willie "Billy" Hamrick of Rock Hill SC., Linda Ledbetter and husband John of Kings Mountain and Sheila Haskin of Stanley; five brothers, Raymond Haskin and wife Hazel of Fallston, Emmett Haskin and wife Linda of Shelby, Bobby Haskin and Libby of Kings Mountain, Larry Haskin and wife Wilma of Shelby, Jerry Haskin and wife Jo of Spartanburg SC.;15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 2:00p.m in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Johnny Owens, Rev. Barry Goodman and Bishop Willie A. Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends before the service from 12:30 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
