John "Johnny" Walter Gantt, age 81 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 10, 2022.

Johnny was survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Faye Causby Gantt of the home, his children, Todd Gantt of Catawba, NC, Scott Gantt of Shelby, NC, and Rev. Michael Gantt (Ruby) of Morganton, NC, a grandson, Brian Gantt, two brothers, Jack Gantt of Carrollton, GA, and Randy Gantt of Wilmington, NC, a sister, Sally Roberts of Forest City, NC, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Born December 8, 1940 in Radford, VA, Johnny was the son of the late Alvin Gantt and Hazel Quick Gantt. Johnny was a faithful member of Double Springs Baptist Church. He served honorably in the United States Navy. Johnny managed Farmers True Value Hardware in Shelby for numerous years. He also worked and retired from Doran Textiles. Johnny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel conducted by Rev. Michael Gantt. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Double Springs Baptist Church.
