John Randolph Lowery

John Randolph Lowery, 89, of Pleasant Hill Church Rd., passed away Monday, mar. 24, 2014, at White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain.  Born February 7, 1925, in Shelby, he was the son of the late John and Ida Dover Lowery.  He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army, in the Pacific.  He was a farmer and carpenter, and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. 

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Mattie Sue Lowery; and sister, Mary Lowery Dixon.

SURVIVED:  He is survived by his loving daughter, Dr. Gayla Freeman and husband Dr. Buddy Freeman of Marshall, NC; nephew, Dr. Richard Dixon and wife Meda, and their sons, Andrew and Charles.; brother, Jack Lowery and wife Betty of New Ellenton, SC; sisters-in law, Madge Beam of Shelby, Ruby Sperling and husband Glenn of Waco; brothers-in-law, Eugene Beam of New Ellenton, SC, Wray Beam and wife Doris of Shelby, and many nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to express grateful appreciation to the staff of White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain and Hospice of Cleveland County.

SERVICES:  Thursday, 2pm, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church

VISITATION:  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church, and other times at the home of Dr. Richard and Meda Dixon, 2260 Pleasant Hill Church Rd., Shelby
