Mr. John Robert “Bob” Mitchell, 88, of 304 Peach St., Shelby passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010. Services were held at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home Chapel and burial was held in Woodland Cemetery, Chrisman, IL.
Mr. Mitchell served our country in the U.S. Air Force, during WWII and was awarded a Bronze Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Cecil and Bessie Parks Mitchell; one brother, Harold Mitchell and one sister, Velma Irene Mitchell.
He is survived by his wife Mary Kelsheimer Mitchell; one son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Tami Mitchell of Maple Grove, MN; one daughter, Carol Ann Mitchell of the home and 2 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC 28150.
