John Robert "Bob" Smith, age 87 resident of Kings Mountain, NC passed away peacefully on December 9, 2016 at his home. He was born in Catawba Co. NC to the late Arthur Ray Smith and Vertie Houston Smith. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Jo Mauney Smith; daughters, Lorri Smith Henson and Baby Girl Smith; and son, Baby Boy Smith; brother, Paul Smith; sister, Peggy Smith Hord Gladden. Bob was a former sales representative with Cox Treated Lumber, Orangeburg, SC and a member of First Baptist Church, Kings Mtn. NC. He was past Post Commander of the American Legion, Kings Mtn. NC, a member of the Oasis Shrine Temple, Kings Mtn. NC. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and is a member of the Kings Mountain Sports Hall of Fame after 35 years of service to the Kings Mountain High School Football Program. He enjoyed spending time with his friends while golfing, hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
