Johnny E. Roper, age 77, of Lodi Dr passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Harmon Homestead rd. He was born August 15, 1940 in Cleveland County to the late Jasper Young "J.Y.' and Brunie Poole Roper. He worked at Mohican Mill and was a member of the Ridge Runner Hunting Club. Johnny enjoyed fishing, chickens, tending to his garden and running his beagles.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Bertie Trammell, Dorothy Black, Louise Rhom, and Jack and Donald Roper.
He is survived by his daughter, Loretta Short and companion, Chris Dawson of the home; grandchildren, Kyle Short and Aubree Short; and Betty Hughes, companion for 37 years.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Janet and Eugene Rosser.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 at 3:00 PM at New Camp Creek Church in Kings Mountain with Rev. Jerry Lail and Rev. Richard Stroupe officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday prior to the service from 2:00 until 2:45 PM at the church.
