Johnny Emory

Mr. Johnny Emory, 74, of 1233 Lavender Road, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he was born January 26, 1940, son of Louise Hayes Panther and the late Dock Emory. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was retired for the Street Department for the City of Shelby. He loved fishing going to yard sales and auctions, on him and Shirley’s 50th wedding anniversary, he took her on a cruise down the Broad River in a paddle boat, he hardly ever paid full price for anything, if there was room to jiggle on the price, he took great advantage of it.

PRECEDED: In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his aunt and uncle Ada and John Hayes, and his special fur baby Spanky and a grandparent, May Hayes.

SURVIVED: In addition to his Mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley Mullinax Emory of the home; one son, Horace Emory; one daughter, Wanda Acuff and husband David all of Grover; one half sister, Ann Powell and husband James of Newton; four grandchildren, Mandy Thackerson and husband Josh, Kyle and Colt Acuff, and Kasey Earwood; four great grandchildren, Ally and Brody Thackerson, Ella Hefner, and Hayden Capps.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 3:00pm Saturday at Faith Baptist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends 6-7:30pm Friday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.

CLERGY: Dr. J. Barry Goodman and Rev. Johnny Owens will officiate.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
