Joseph Douglas Smith, 43, of Styres St., died Jan.3, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Lincoln co. on Jan. 28, 1970 a son of the late Jack Neal Smith and Patricia Baldwin Smith of Cherryville. Mr. Smith worked in the home construction industry and was an excellent baseball player in his younger days.
In addition to his mother he is survived by a daughter Amber Smith of Crouse, step children Lacey Towery of North Brook and Heather King of Cherryville, granddaughter Kilee Dellinger and step grandchildren Zane King and Paislee Towery, a sister Donna Lankford(Marty) of Cherryville and a brother David W. Smith of Cherryville.
A Memorial service will be held Sat. Feb. 1, 2014 at 4 PM at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church wit Rev. Bobby Holtsclaw officiating Burial will be private. The family will receive friends Sat. at the church from 3-3:30 pm.
