Joseph Dudley Hall, Jr.
Joseph Dudley Hall, Jr., age 77, of Forest City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Hospice House in Forest City.
Born on Friday, July 22, 1938 in Harlingen, Texas, he was a son to the late Joseph Dudley Hall, Sr. and Marvis Elaine Strohmeyer Hall. He was a graduate of Harris High School, class of 1957 and served his country in the U.S. Army. Joseph was a longtime member of Riverside Baptist Church where he served as Music Director for over fifty years and as the Chairman of the Deacon Board for many years. He was also the adult Sunday School teacher for several years. He worked for Milliken textiles for forty-nine years before retirement. Joseph was a member of the Foot Hills Choir and enjoyed attending gospel singings and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. He was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. Joseph was always willing to help anybody.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Irene Spicer Hall; one daughter, Sheila Conner and husband, Michael and one son, Joey Hall and wife, Zo Ann all of Forest City; brother, Wayne Hall and wife, Brenda of Duncan, SC; three sisters, Marie Searcy and husband, Bobby of Columbus, NC, Lulu Mae Walker and husband, Walter of Campobello, SC and Inez Jackson and husband, David also of Columbus. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Katrina Searcy, Dylan Hall, Mikey Conner and Dakota Hall; great-granddaughter, Addlyln Grace Hall and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Riverside Baptist Church with Reverend Ted Blankenship and Reverend Reid Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
