Joseph "Joe" Hamrick

Joseph "Joe" Hamrick, age 78 of Over Look Drive, passed away July 27, 2013 at Hospice Wendover following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Cleveland County on April 5, 1935 he was the son of the late Forest and Lois Blanton Hamrick. Joe served in the U.S. Army as a medic from 1958 to 1960. After 45 years of faithful service, Joe retired from Carter's Chevrolet in 2010. Joe loved gardening and baseball. Since his retirement, Joe enjoyed spending time at the Broad River Greenway.

Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Lou Wisher Hamrick; two daughters, Deborah Ramsey Davis of Blacksburg SC. and Susan Eng and husband Robert of Kings Mountain; Two brothers, Jack Hamrick and wife Maggie, and Jimmy Hamrick all of Shelby. Two grandchildren, Lee White, and Heather Sherrill and husband Tracy: great grandchildren, Drake Hamrick and LeeAnna White; nephews, Mark, Craig, Brian and Timothy Hamrick; nieces, Karen Martin and husband Gerald, and Donna Albright and husband Billy; great nephews, great niece, and his good friend, Reid Jolley.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday August 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Boiling Springs with Rev. Todd Bolin, Dr. Robert Eng and Rev. Wallace King officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive frineds on Wednesday July 31, 2013 from 5; 00 pm until 6:30 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the Hospice Cleveland County staff and Wendover Hospice House Staff for their support and compassion for Joe and his family.
