Joseph “Joey” Merlin Walker
 Joseph “Joey” Merlin Walker, 58, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.  A native of Cleveland County he was the son of Bruce Palmer Walker and the late Lucille Bridges Walker.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter Amy Marie Walker. He was a member of Camps Creek Baptist Church in Mooresboro (No. 1 Township) where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Boiling Springs Fire and Rescue and he retired from Jefferson Smurfit Corporation. Joey was an avid fisherman and loved hunting.

Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deborah Radford Walker; three children, Tracy Renee Humphries and husband Tracy Scott of Mooresboro, Wendy Greene and husband Tommy of Shelby, Jim Walker of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Elesé Walker, Kaitlin Godfrey, Kelsey Brooke, Sierra, and Dawsun Humphries, Lili Greene, Alexander James Walker; sister, Debra Walker Clark and husband Steve of Lawndale; numerous nieces and nephews; and a good friend, James Dimsdale of Mooresboro. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Camps Creek Baptist Church.  The Rev. Troy Harris and the Rev. Steve Durham will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service at the church.  At other times the family will be at the home of Bruce P. Walker, 202 Worthington Street in Shelby.
