Juan “Boy” Gonzales, age 54, of Asheville, NC, died Sunday, July 28, 2013 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Juan was born May 16, 1959 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Maria Gonzales Maeta. He worked as a registered nurse for over 20 years which included the University of Chicago Hospital, John Hopkins Medical Center, Carolinas Medical Center and Mission Hospital-St. Joseph Campus in Asheville. Juan loved collecting various forms of art work, writing poetry, studying history and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed shopping for clothes. He was greatly loved by all of his family and especially those from his hometown of Chicago Heights.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his daughter, Mia Gonzales Elliott and husband, Paul of Mooresboro and two grandchildren, Keeton Elliott and Paisley Elliott.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with his daughter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are suggested to Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1251 US Highway 221A, Forest City, NC 28043 to help defray funeral costs.
