Mrs. Juanita Irene Whisnant Padgett, 75, of Shelby, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at her residence with her husband and grandson by her side.
She is survived by her husband, Rush Leander Padgett of the home, children; Dennis Padgett of Shelby, NC, Roger Padgett of Shelby, NC, Randy Page and wife Karen of Boiling Springs, NC, and Eddie Ray Padgett, Sr. and wife Donna of Shelby, NC, grandchildren; Rush D. Padgett and wife Courtney, Arianna Padgett, Maria Padgett and husband Jonathan Davis, Eddie Padgett Jr., Dawn Bowen, Kristy Page, Katie Pratt and husband Dewayne, Chloe Page, and Sadie Page, beloved great grandchildren; Rush C. Padgett and Ryder D. Padgett, two brothers, Horace Whisnant and wife Brenda of Rutherford County, and Steve W. Padgett and wife Vanessa of Daytona Beach, FL, sister-in-law, Ethel Whisnant, and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Born March 7, 1941 in Rutherford County, Mrs. Padgett was the daughter of the late Millard Whisnant and Gussie Terry Whisnant and was preceded in death by brothers; Paul Terry, Ralph Whisnant, and Norris Whisnant, daughter-in-law, Tawanna Padgett, sister-in-laws; Mildred Terry and Jewel Whisnant, and a niece, Elise Whisnant.
Mrs. Padgett and her brothers were raised at Union Mills Orphanage where she made many lifelong friendships.
Mrs. Padgett was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where she spent a lot of time with her Sunday school group, the youth, and the children. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She enjoyed clogging, gardening, and being outdoors. Juanita will always be remembered for her spirited sense of humor, quick wit, and generous heart.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Beaver Dam Baptist Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Men on Mission, Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 123 Beaver Dam Church Road, Shelby NC 28152.
