Mrs. Juanita Lemons Mode, age 79 of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Wendover Hospice House.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William Mode of the home, two daughters, Vickie Jones and husband Bobby of Shelby, NC, and Sherry Bailey and husband Randy of Shelby, NC, four grandchildren, Katina Jones, Travis Bailey, Jerod Jones and wife Emily, and Stacey Bailey, five great grandchildren, Meia and Brennon Jones, Isaiah and Malyiah Meeks, Cason Bailey, and Caynon Burris, Brylee Jones, two sisters, Faye Bridges of Shelby, NC, and Jo Dyer and husband Fred of Kings Mountain, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

Born June 23, 1936 in Shelby, NC, Mrs. Mode was the daughter of the late Fitchue F. Lemons and Ruby Young Lemons and was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Fraser.

Mrs. Mode graduated from Shelby High School and Cleveland Community College. She is a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and a former member of Flint Hill Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and helped with the children's choir. Juanita retired from NC Bridge Department at the State Hwy Department. She enjoyed housekeeping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Cleveland Funeral Services. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, December 4, 2015 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church conducted by Dr. J. Eric Davis and Rev. Keith Dixon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
