Julia H. Fitzhugh

Cherryville - Mrs. Julia H. Fitzhugh, 98, formerly of Fitzhugh Street passed
away on May 15, 2018 at Covenant Village in Gastonia, N.C.

Mrs. Fitzhugh was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on February 13, 1920
a daughter of the late Dr. William Henry Houser, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth
Rudisill Houser. She graduated from Cherryville High and attended Lenoir
Rhyne College. She was retired as a teller from Cherryville National Bank
after 17 years of service. Mrs. Fitzhugh was a member of St. John's
Lutheran Church of Cherryville, member of the Missionary Society and the
Gertrude Rudisill Sunday School Class. She enjoyed playing bridge, spending
time at Lake Norman and Oak Island, NC.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William
P. "Bill" Fitzhugh, four brothers, Dr. Forest Houser, Howard Houser, W.H.
Houser, Jr. and Emmett Houser, and three sisters, Euzelia Houser Parsons,
Becky Houser Doggett and Ava Houser Ferguson.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy Cox and Benny D. Cox of
Charlotte; grandchildren, Charles Malachi Cox and Gretchen Leigh Cox Clarke
and husband Hunter all of Charlotte; also surviving are numerous nieces and
nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in the Vida Dellinger parlor at
the church from 1:00 to 1:45 pm.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church of
Cherryville on Sunday May 20, 2018 with the Rev. Ben Kifer officiating.

Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
