Julius David "J.D." Wortman, 83, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, at home.
Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Amos and Ola Mull Wortman.
J.D. was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, and was a member of the Casar Masonic Lodge. He retired from the NCDOT as a mechanic. He was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed traveling throughout the US.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Katherine Wortman Alexander.
J.D. was a loving husband to his wife of 58 years, Patsy Grayson Wortman. He was a wonderful father to his daughter Lynn Wortman Self and husband Mark, and his son Julius Wortman. His two grandchildren Matt and Melissa Self were the lights of his life.
Also surviving is his sister, Dot Wortman Crosby, and brother-in-law Howard Alexander as well as his nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 27, 2014, at St. Paul Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Fulbright officiating.
Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston is serving the family.
