Kathaleen Lackey Gantt, 96, of 8696 Reeps Grove Church Road, died June, 16, 2018 at Carolina Care, Cherryville. She was born on January 16, 1922 in Cleveland Co. a daughter of Thomas Guy and Jennie Moss Lackey. Kathaleen was a member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church. She was an excellent home healthcare giver, raised five sons, was involved in the community, cared for her parents and in law, and was a hairdresser.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Gamel Thomas "GT" Gantt, sons Ronnie Gantt, Casey Gantt, Jerry Gantt, brother TG Lackey Jr., Sisters Shirley Price and Wilma Wilcox and a granddaughter Brooke Gantt.
Survivors include her sons Steve Gantt and Janet of Cherryville, Eddie Gantt of Vale, Daughter-in-law Beverly Barts Gantt of Vale, and Sister-in-law Lilly Poston Lackey of Cherryville and a Brother Kermit Lackey of Lincolnton, Grandchildren, Geety Gantt and Malinda, Rena Reep and Daren, Shayne Gantt, Great Grandchildren, Grace Gantt, Bailey Reep, and Colten Gantt.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 19, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Mt Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Mahaffey. Burial will be at the Mt Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
